Crock Pot Stuffing

At Thanksgiving, when oven space is at a premium, I like to make my stuffing in the crock pot.

Another benefit of not preparing the stuffing in the bird is not having to worry about the internal temperature of the stuffing, to avoid possible food poisioning issues. That said, here's a very easy, fool proof crock pot stuffing recipe.

In 1 cup of butter, saute 2 cups each chopped onion & celery. Add 1/4 cup chopped parsley.
Season with:
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
1 1/2 tsp. sage
1 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. marjoram
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Pour this over 12 cups bread cubes.
Stir in 4 1/2 cups chicken broth, and 2 beaten eggs.
Mix well. Put in slow cooker.

Cook on High 45 minutes, or on Low 4-8 hours.

This basic recipe can be doctored any way you wish. I love the ease of using the crock pot. It is served from the crock pot, so it never has a chance to get cold and gummy on the buffet table!

Julie, I'm so glad you posted this. My bird is huge this year, and while I had planned to stuff it, I can't afford the extra cooking time (or the extra time getting it in the oven). The crock pot it is!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
