SWS: Queen for a Day?

The Lovely Mannequin from Fractured Toy is such an Awesome Bloggy Friend. She passed this shiny trinket along to me. I've always loved tiaras and crowns, you know!

First of all, though, my Six Words:

Thanks So Much, My Friend Mannequin!

I'm accepting this award with a Royal Decree, of course: I have been ordered by Queen Mannequin to tell you Seven Awesome Things about me, and told that I must pass this bling thing along to Seven Awesome Bloggers.

Hmmmmmmmm...Let's see.

1. When I was in high school, I received a "perfect" score on the verbal section of the SATs...twice. I'm an avid reader. I could spend all day with my nose in a book!

2. I love learning new things. Whether it's how to make the POPrs go POP! or how to get that sweet crown in this award to twinkle in the Blog Lights, I want to know!

3. I have visited six of the seven continents and have no interest in visiting Antarctica...although I do love Emperor Penguins!

4. I have been married longer than some of you have been alive. Seriously.

5. I have a tender heart. Lost kittens and puppies often come to know me well.

6. I'm an excellent cook, and pride myself on putting at least four "real" meals on the dinner table for my family each week.

7. I know how to say the alphabet backwards. My Nana taught me. I used to know how to sing it backwards, but have lost that skill with age.

Before I name the recipients of the Queen of All Things Awe-Summm! Award, let me first say that each and every one of you deserves this. But I must pick seven, so here goes:

Zander & Me

Art on a Limb

Holding Patterns

Honest and Truly!

The Journey

If Mom Says OK

Jeannie's Happy World

Oh, and forgot to tell you ~ I'm playing along today with Cate and Six-Word Saturday, hosted at Show My Face. Enjoy!

You're Not Dreaming...Veggie Mom Puts on a Pretty Face

There's only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self. ~Author Aldous Huxley

No, you're not dreaming...as Soccer Boy seems to be, in this sweet Aunt Julie snap! Veggie Mom has a new "look," and wants to give you a little peek into the thoughts behind her transformation.

Huxley, who wrote that odd classic, Brave New World, is only partially right. Yes, I try every day to improve...in my approach to life, to others, to myself. But look, Dear Readers, at what else I've had a hand in improving. Eat Your Veggies! enters a new era, with a new face.

I've shared my thoughts on blogging with you for about eight months now. I've made so many cyber-contacts, and I hold your friendships dear. But I've also coveted some of your looks...and learned that while it might not be easy to teach an old dog new tricks, it is possible to help her do an about-face.

It all started with a note from Susie, who runs Susie's Homemade. She and her talented husband, Jeff, are into blog redesign. I took them up on their offer, and I'm livin' large now!

A Great Big Thanks to Susie and Jeff, of course, for their patience and perseverance.

And thank you to others who contributed in both big ways and small to this blog redesign. To the Lovely Mannequin, and her Pop'rs Pals Frankie and Cupid, thanks for the photo that adorns the button on top of my left sidebar...if you click on these cute critters, you'll get a gander at my blogroll.

Thanks to Aunt Julie, who provides so many of the sweet snaps for this blog. I've inaugurated a special place for Julie Eliz in this new space...click on the button at the top of my right sidebar, and you'll get all of the yummy recipes from Aunt Julie's Kitchen.

If you click on The Pop'rs Family in the right sidebar, which features a silly snap of Shark Boy trying to skimboard at the beach (another Aunt Julie photo), you will find all of the sweet, silly, quirky tales of the family members who make this blog go 'round.

And, of course, thanks to Uncle Lynn. Without his inspiration and his fabulous Pop'rs, none of this would be possible! We have a special button for Mr. Pops over on the right...click there and you'll find posts that take you through Uncle Lynn's amazing Pop'rs Journey.

Yes, Veggie Mom is still a work in progress. I continue to post every day, and try to bring all of my friends something fresh, new, current, interesting. The Blogosphere is so vast, and I realize that I'm really lucky to be a part of it. Thanks for coming back every day...this redesign, really, is for you.

So, if you like Veggie Mom's transformation, please stop over to see Susie. She'll help you put on a pretty face, too!

Pop'rs Grab-Bag

!*Pop'rs Giveaway Alert*!
A little bird told moi that you should start looking for a Great New Pop'rs Giveaway sometime around Saturday, the 25th. It's Getting to Look a lot Like Halloween around here, so Uncle Lynn and I thought a Ghosts and Goblins theme would be divine! Make sure to tune in Saturday, and join in the fun!

Record Numbers Enter for Pop'rs!
Amanda recently had a Pop'rs Giveaway herself. And Guess What? She had a record 113 entries! Yes, yes, I know...some of you have 800 Gazillion Million Trillion entries in your contests...More than the National Debt and the Deficit combined! But we're talking Uncle Lynn's tiny little family-owned company here. We're super-excited, and can't wait to congratulate the winner!

Well, Kiss My Grits!
Lula, the Commander-in-Chief of Lulaville, is a previous Pop'rs Giveaway Winner. She left me the cutest little ol' comment yesterday. "Thought of you today...put butter-flavored Pop'rs in my grits. YUMMY!" See, It Takes a Village to market Pop'rs. We up here in Northeastern Wisconsin need to pay more attention to our clientele South of the Mason-Dixon Line!

Thanks for the Compliments!
Cute Karla, The Lovely Mannequin and I must have a Mutual Admiration Society goin' on here in Cyberland. We've been Trading Sugar, as My Nana used to say, for a good long while now. Karla (known to you Super-Bloggers as "Z's Mom") and Mannequin, however, put the Icing on the Cake with these Quite Comfortable Comments, which I had no trouble at all trying on for size: "You never seem to be at a loss for something to say," gushes Karla. "And I love hearing about the POP'rs Family!" "There is NO ONE quite like you!" Mannequin pronounces. "You come up with the most creative topics!" Both these Great Gals are Previous Pop'rs Giveaway Winners, but I didn't pay 'em to say this...I promise!
