Beat Those Back-to-School Blues With a Giveaway!

As promised, Dear Readers, it's that time again--Time for another Great Pop'rs Giveaway! This one's simple, since you're right in the middle of that Most Bittersweet time o' year and some of you, most likely, are fighting those Back-to-School Blues.

Here's the deal. Leave a comment here, explaining what this time of year (end of summer, back to school, seasons changing--whatever tickles your fancy!) means to you. That's it! At Midnight on September 5, EST, we'll select Two Grand Prize Winners by random drawing. What do you win? Why, a complete box of Pop'rs--All eight flavors!--that tasty and fun seasoning that really encourages kids to Eat. Their. Veggies!

Above, BTW, is a Parting Shot of the Pop'rs Cousins at the beach. We haven't done it in years, but we used to line them up here every year for a photo-shoot. We renewed the Family Tradition this year, before the kids get too old for going to the beach with the Old Folks!

Pictured, from the left, back row: Big Bear, The Wild One, College Boy, Shark Boy; front row: College Girl, Soccer Boy. For those of you who are new to the Pop'rs Family, The Wild One and College Girl are mine; the four boys are the Number One Sons to Aunt Julie and Uncle Lynn. And, to the Uninitiated, the answer is "no." Veggie Mom and Aunt Julie aren't the same person; Veggie is married to Auntie J.'s brother, Uncle Mark, also known as Moker. And who could wish for a better SIL?

Ok Veggie Mom...I don't have time to read, I just wanted to let you know that you are my spotlight blogger for Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 26. Are you up for it?

Good luck with the giveaway! I think this time of year brings feelings of growth and reflection. It's a milemarker in every child's life where they advance to the next grade and next big endeavor whether it's sports, bible study groups, scounts, whatever it may be. It makes me think about what we've accomplished in the past year.

I really hate to see summer end.

Our summers are very lazy. This year I have been playing soccer, but normally there no activities, no bedtimes, no homework, no fighting to get out the door, no making sure laundry is done. All this, AND they sleep in until 11:00!

But, 10 more days, and then the games begin!

This time of year means two things to me. First of all, this time of year often gives me a sense of complete happiness and satisfaction. This was the time of year that my boyfriend and I met therefore it brings back a lot of happy memories. As of Sept.9th we will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary. How exciting! We still haven't made plans but our tradition usually includes going to a nice, new (to us) and a more expensive restaurant than we normally would go to. Over the years we've found a lot of new delciious restaurants this way.

Secondly, this time of year also means back to school for me. This year I am starting back to school in a new faculty: Human Ecology in the Department of Family Social sciences. Because of this, I am a bit excited. Usually this activity is stressful but since I've had a decent break this summer, when the time comes, I will be ready to go back.

Thanks for the chance Veggie Mom!! :)

Season's changing mean my birthday is coming up and the glorious changing of leave colors. Makes me very happy!

AJ @ A Little Bit Nutty said...

I love this time of year it means the leaves will change soon, the weather will cool off, football games, bonfires, soup and chili, wrapping up next to the fire and reading a good book, and who can forget school starts. So it's a little quieter around here during the day.

Lynda said...

I love when summer ends (it's SO hot here) and school starts...it's almost time for high school football, cooler weather, and a break from the heat. Life is good.

I love when summer winds down. School is just beginning and not too serious yet. Plus, fall is my faaaavvorite season.

Dawn said...

The end of summer means different things to me. I have an awesome job that gives me the summers off, so summer is such a laid back, relaxing time for me. But yet, I am always anxious to get back and see what kids I will be working with this year and am sort of glad when summer ends, but yet, I miss it!

Since summer is my favorite season, I get a tiny bit sad when the cicadas stop humming so loudly and the crickets take up the tree song. I'm a teacher, too, so I'm gearing up for the back-to-school onslaught myself. It's fun to be back, but so much work at the beginning of the school year! I usually mellow out around October 15!

must not be blank said...

This time of year is my 'new year'. I am always sad to see the kids enter another grade...they are growing up way too fast.

thankfully for me it means schedule... a lot more to do... but atleast i know what is happening...

I love the end of summer- it means that Christmas is coming! I use the fall to do my Christmas shopping!

Ohhh...fun giveaway!!

The fall is my favorite time of year. My bday is coming up and the colors on the mountains are going to start changing PLUS it's back to school time. I loved school....but alas, my children hate it. Can't figure that one out.

Scott said...

I'm kind of sad because summer is ending and I love summer! But I'm looking forward to some cooler weather. Also, my countdown to Christmas will start soon!

Deanna said...

It means taking the good with the bad.

The bad is giving up my boys to the schools which means me having a huge case of blues.

The good is the arrival of Fall which hopefully is going to mean some cooler weather as well as football games, Friday night tailgating and after game dessert times.

I love the change in routine, sports getting started and being closer to Fall. I do my best cleaning now not the Spring. Don't know why.

I love the cooler weather but I miss all of the summer activities. I miss spending the days with my children as it will be back-to-school time. Thank you for the giveaway!

This time of year means change to me. My youngest starts school tomorrow. For the first time in 9 years we will have no kids home. It will be a little sad. Also, I will probably go back to work, wich is another huge change. The weather gets cooler and leaves change.
Thanks for having this giveaway!! It`s been great reading your blog!!

Well, this is our busiest time of the year at work-but I love the fall foliage and try to go up to the Northern part of the state and take a ride. Also, getting ready for Halloween, and knowing Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. And checking out stores for clearance sales and great bargains-hubby went and got SEVEN bags today at a local discount retailer full of shoes, clothing and bathing suits for a $1 a bag-all new stuff too. His brother & sisters and their kids in Central America will be very happy come Christmas. And of course, Deja and Demetrio starting school. And me being able to clean house and get stuff done...albeit not much.

Channah said...

This time of year means it's apple pie season, and that it's almost my birthday!

Mandy said...

This time of year means football, soft turtleneck sweaters, building fires outside and snuggling w/ my hubby after the kids are in bed, excitement for school, and yummy yummy comfort food. The start of fall is my favorite time of year!

Michelle said...

Oh how fun! I've really wanted to try these, as the wee ones don't quite eat the veggies they should.

The end of summer to me is very dramatic proof that my wee ones are no longer so ... wee. I have a son who will be five in less than two months. And a daughter who isn't a baby anymore, as much as I want to pick her up and cuddle with her. She's riding a bike now. And soon, they'll both be rebellious teenagers!

I love this time of year!! I get to celebrate my anniversary, my husband's birthday and my birthday. And I really love summer ending and fall starting. The changing leaves is always so beautiful!! (Too bad I live in AZ now so I don't really see that anymore...so sad!)

when summer "officially" comes to an end, I become sad but i also take the time to reflect and make some goals. "back to school" is like a whole new year that's starting...it's scary! i make some goals for work, for home and self-improvement and stick to them. oddly enough, i never make new year resolutions...i make mid year ones!

I was an elementary school teacher until this past March when I left to have my first baby! So, right about now I'm loving life as a stay-at-home mom, but it's bittersweet. Part of me is missing the back-to-school fun and craziness...but not enough to leave my sweet baby girl and go back to school!!

What a very nice looking family. Very nice.
This time of the year means autumn is in the air so I can make soups and stews! hmm.. I'll need seasonings and appetizers and things to go with the soups and chili's. Hey! I've got it! POP'rs! that would be great ; I tried
some on taco's and it was great!
We have now successfully tried all and we give it a 5/5!
Thanks Veggie Mom; now I'm addicted.

This time of year means brand spankin new school supplies! As a teacher nothing makes me happier than that cup of freshly sharpened pencils sitting on my desk... well except maybe a sassy new bulletin board! It also means baking time as we make fun treats for my son's teachers.

I've never been the mom dancing on the first day of school and planning for all my free time. This time of year means back to work for me, the loss of free time for my kids, and dozens of checks to write to cover every school fee known in the free world. I love all things summer and am sad to see it go. Off to dry my eyes now!

Wooo Hooo....another giveaway!

This time of year is bittersweet. I'm not a fan of winter, so I don't like to let the summer go. However, it is also the time of year when my shows start their new seasons, so that is always exciting too. I'm always torn. Hmmm...maybe it won't be so cold this winter...wishful thinking I know.

The end of summer and the coming of autumn is bittersweet to me. As the end of summer approaches, I am suddenly aware of how fast this year is passing. I miss summer. I love the long evenings and watching the (grand)children play outside until after dark.

However, fall is so much fun! Fall decor is the best! And I love changing my summer clothes out for the beautiful colors of fall. And of course, I start thinking of the holidays!

Well, this year is different for me. My son is starting preschool and we live in Hungary. He doesn't speak Hungarian yet, so he will be having to learn really quick, thankfully he is excited about it. I am praying he learns it super fast and the teachers and kids are nice.

I love Fall, so this is a great time of year when the weather gets cooler. It is sooo hot here in the summers and there is no AC, so it is nice to have naturally cool weather!

Enter me! I love this time of year--although who from MN could really be happy to let summer go? But the days are gorgeous even as the nights get crisp.

I appreciate this time of year like crazy, because in 15 years of teaching, I completely lost track of September. Best surprise of my retirement--and now the frosting on the cake is my kids go to school! :-) I admit it. I'm ready for a little space.

Honestly, my guys are too little to know anything different. They, and we, love our summer and swimming and everything else along with it; however, they are excited to go to school and to get back to that routine...school is awesome! (and even though i just sent my oldest into kindergarten and almost cried at the classroom door...i didn't and my little buy is awesome for barreling straight ahead and not looking back!)

Hi there, For me, this time of year means the anticipation of the new school year. I remember as a child not being able to wait to get the new reading book. As an avid reader I was never allowed to answer the prediction questions about the new story because by the 3rd week of school I had read all the stories in the book. (I had a long bus ride!)

Now, schools don't seem to use reading books as much, so we use the first book order of the year to help my son get excited about reading. What better way to spend a cool, breezy, fall to winter day than reading in front of the fireplace!

I love the cool weather! It means open windows and that lovely crisp feeling of fall. I live in FL, so the cool weather months are very short here!

Rhonda said...

While I hate to see summer end (see my previous comment) I do love the newness and excitement of a new school year. When the kids get their new books and pencil crayons. When they get their new clothes. Labelling their new stuff. I think I get more excited than them. I used to love this time of year.

However, our summers are so short. In recent years we've had two seasons. Summer and Winter. The others have gotten lost along the way. Last year we had 8 months of winter. It was so long. I'm still thawing out, and here we are saying good-bye to summer again.

I love the routine of school. I love new pencils & school supplies, and new clothes. I love fall (or at least what we call 'fall' here in FL!). Fall leaves, colors, pumpkin patches, Halloween...most definitely my favorite time of year.

This year end of summer meant many changes in my household. Our youngest daughter (we have 2) moved out and went to college. We now have an empty-nest. In the past it always meant hustle and bustle getting use to the new school year. It has been a strange end of summer for us.

This time of year means the end of a great summer having my kids close to me, sleeping in, the pool, the beach, family ,and friends...and the beginning of a NEW YEAR...more so than the real new year...this is when I make my resolutions. I look forward to the fall and the leaves changing and best of all, Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday is just around the corner. I want those poprs.

ooooh - I love fall! This time of year stirs up all the great summer memories from this year (and many from way, way back!).

Those always bring a smile to my face. As does the promise of another great season of college football!

I LOVE this time of year. I love the crispmess in teh air at night, but still warm enough during the day. I love the colors. I love teh scents. But most of all I LOVE the squash.

I love cooking with squash and I have found numerous healthy and hearty recipes. I have turned my vege hating husband into a squash lover over the past 5 years. My children do not notice that their spaghetti noodles are replaced with squash. They do not question the sweet zucchini breads or the brownies with pureed summer squash.

Who can forget pumpkin. I can go on and on.

I love autumn and I love autumn vegetables.

End of summer to me means fall is coming, which is my favorite season... apple-picking, pumpkin patches, leaves falling, the smell of cinnamon in the air, cooler weather, Halloween, Thanksgiving, food - glorious food, and then Christmas, which is a whoooole other topic completely!
