Peace, Love and Harmony

To enter the fantabulous POPrs Give It Away Now Blog Carnival Contest, please click here. Contest closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday!

Meet the Dog, the Cat and the Rat. Otherwise known as Booger, Kitty and Mousey. Booger's a Rotweiller, Kitty's an American Tabby, and Mousey is, well, a Rat.

They're hanging out with their owner, Gregory Pike, in Santa Barbara. Moved to Cali recently after spending several years in Arizona. Pike is originally from Telluride, Colorado.

Booger the Rotweiller met Kitty when the cat was but a babe. Mousey grew attached to Kitty the same way. Now they walk around Santa Barbara all day long, promoting Peace, Love and Harmony.

"Peace can happen anywhere," Pike tells The Bottom Line, a publication put out by students at UC-Santa Barbara. "If they can do it, why can't people?"

He really does have a point there, don't you think?

"You know," Pike says, "they're just 'dumb' animals, but now, who're really the stupid ones?" Good question.

We had rats with out Kitties BUT they didn't get along like these guys! They tolerated each other. This is just too cute.

Sometimes we could learn a lot from animals if we just took the time to do so.

I had three dogs, two cats, a rabbit and three hamsters in the house at one point, and I never had any issues. The cats and dogs curled up together. The rabbit could come out of her cage and play with the cats and dogs, and the cats would sometimes sleep on top of the hamster cages, but never bothered trying to get at them (nor did they bother them when I had them out in those hamster ball things). I never left the hamsters and rabbit loose when there wasn't a human there to supervise "just in case" but we never had any problems. And the hamsters lived to be almost 3 years old, so they obviously weren't bothered by the cats.

I thnk I know who in life I'd rather spend time with :)

And yep, we had cats who cuddled with our rabbits and hamsters and dogs growing up, too. I think they *know* when it's part of the family. If only people were the same way....
