Puppy Love

Meet Darby, the newest POPrs Pooch.

My six words brought to you by
Cate at Show My Face.

He's about as cute as they come, don't you think? Just what my mother-in-law needed. And as the newest puppy in the POPrs Family, he's probably going to steal some of the attention away from Rowdy.

And Darby's a soon-to-be 100-pound dog! This is when you want to wave the magic wand and keep him a puppy forever...

A Sign Of Things To Come

I am participating in Six Word Saturday, hosted by Cate at Show My Face.

I LOVE Fall...NOT IN AUGUST!

This gorgeous little maple tree seems to have a mind of its own! But if you look closely, there seems to be some damage to the trunk. I'm hoping this is the cause of the display of red leaves in AUGUST, though the high for today is the low 60s.
School starts Tuesday. Where did summer go?

AND THE WINNER IS...NOT ME!

Just 'cause I'm outta good luck
doesn't mean you have to be.
I'm hosting a new POPrs Giveaway,
so everyone has to enter, oui? *

I never win anything! My sister-in-law once won a beautiful 1 carat diamond. And a week later, she won a color TV. Nice!

I was never on a team of any kind, so I've never won a soccer, basketball , football, volleyball, whiffleball or any other kind of trophy. No musical talent, either.

You've never seen me with Ed McMahon, because I've never won the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. No answering the door in my robe to accept the roses and big check. Never.

You've heard of the Miracle Mile in Fond du Lac, WI? Claim to have to most winning Powerball tickets ever sold in that 1 mile stretch of Main Street. I've bought tickets there, too. Never won.

The latest contest that I haven't won? The Ugly Patio Contest. We just started to redo our ugly patio when I heard about the contest. My friend Denise urged me to enter.

"You'd be a shoe-in," she proclaimed. The thought of a free patio, landscaping, and a shiny new grill sounded good.

So I took these photos and sent them off. Every morning for a week, I was up early, watching for my pictures to be among the five finalists. By Friday morning, I was convinced I'd be the last finalist. But NO. It was some guy with a back step and grass. He didn't even HAVE a patio, much less one as UGLY as mine!

Judge for yourself. And I was so convinced that we'd win, that I stopped the bidding process. Now, schedules are full and we have to wait til next year. So I've put up my tomato swingsets where the bushes were pulled out. But the patio is still UGLY!

Good thing the DECK is beautiful! That's where I'll be. Just sitting in an Adirondack chair, trying to figure out what to do about the mess on the other side of the house.

*My 24 words are brought to you by Six-Word Saturday, hosted by Cate at Show My Face. And my New POPrs Giveaway starts tomorrow, so please stop by!

SWS: Photo hunt comes up empty...almost

Don't you hate it when that happens?

I had the cutest photo for today...one of the kids (#3?) in a stroller, in the park, with Uncle Sam.

He was clutching a flag, (the child, not U.S.) and looking quite concerned about the extravagantly dressed stranger leaning into him. He had on a white sailor hat, and...

...it was Americana, all the way!

Well, my two-hour photo hunt did not end with finding the fondly remembered snap, but I did have fun going through years of memories... Maybe the child (#3?) will be off work today, and we can stage it again. Do you think I can get him to put on a white sailor hat, clutch a flag , and look up at Uncle Sam in that same way he did when he was 2? After all, that was 19 years ago. Funny~to his mom, it seems like yesterday...

Happy 4th of July from the Poprs Family! My Six Words are brought to you courtesy of Cate at Show My Face.

SWS: Stop and Smell the Roses?

Here's an Aunt Julie Exclusive~Rowdy the Puppy, enjoying the backyard on a summer's day. Looks a little like he's enjoying the scent of those roses from yesterday's post, doesn't it?

Oh, I forgot to mention that today's Six-Word Saturday is brought to you by Cate at Show My Face. And here are my six words:

Stop and smell the roses, Rowdy!

Ah, it's a dog's life, right?

SWS: She's the Hissy Fit Queen!

Just one thing to do this morning, and that's jump right into Six-Word Saturday:

She's definitely the Hissy Fit Queen!

Yes, this is a shot of The Wild One, at the lovely age of two. The child who used to bang her head against the wall.

This is one of my favorite portraits of TWO during her Hissy Fit Phase. I can never figure out if that's the face of an angel or a demon.

Thankfully, she's learned to use her words. But we recall some monumental storm clouds that rolled through our household in years gone by.

Cate at Show My Face hosts Six-Word Saturday every week. Please come along and join in the fun!

So, angel or demon? Which do you prefer?

That's right, POPrs Fans! We went on the air with Uncle Lynn, Aunt Julie, Veggie Mom and the Gang on June 16, 2008. So I'm sponsoring a Great POPrs Giveaway to celebrate.

Starting tomorrow, please leave me some comment love for a chance to win a Boxful o' POPRs...that yummy, fun seasoning, that's GOOD for you, too! We'll pick five winners by random drawing, and make the BIG REVEAL on Tuesday, which is my one-year mark.

Six-Word Saturday: The Cat's Meow

Here's Patch again. She's lounging on my Amish quilt. But more about that (the quilt, not the lounging) later.

Patch is nearing her 14th birthday. That's 72 years in human terms, according to the Cats Age Conversion Chart. Practically a Senior Citizen, huh? Hence, my six words for this fine Saturday morning:

You think she's eligible for AARP?

Just wondering. Especially since a cat's life expectancy has grown in the past 20 years, according to Pet Place.com.

Cate at Show My Face hosts Six-Word Saturday each week. You should stop by to see her!

Six-Word Saturday=Fashion Faux Pas

One of College Girl's friends snapped this. Something to do with a sorority function, but I haven't quite gotten the whole scoop. So here's what I have to say about the whole thing, in six words:

Pretty in Pink? Perhaps, I think!

Don't want to go too much farther with this rhyme, 'cause I could be accused of being jealous, or something. After all, don't think I could pull this off. Could you?

Google-Blogger seem to be settling down, so I'll be blog-hopping today, for sure. Six-word Saturday is organized every week by Cate. She runs Show My Face. Please show her some Comment Love today, OK? That is, if Blogger will let you.

I'm featuring another award as my Six-Word Saturday post. BTW, make sure you stop by to visit Cate at Show My Face to see other six-word wonders this weekend!

Tori Z., from Torizworld, is my new friend from Wales (as in the UK~yup, Across the Pond!) She presented me with this loverly trinket. Well, just thought I should speak like Eliza Doolittle for the occasion!

Before I get to the bloggy particulars, wanted to share my Six Words:

Tori Z. is My Fair Lady!

And, no, I don't think I'm stretching the truth a bit!

Anyway, the One Lovely Blog Award is all about making new friends. So, I hearby bequeath this pretty to the following 15 newish bloggy friends. They, in turn, must give it to 15 new bloggers, and so on, and so forth. Have fun with this, and enjoy your Saturday!

Six-Word Saturday: Brett Favre Teams Up with Uncle Lynn!

I have two entries in Six-Word Saturday today. First, I'd like to congratulate the winner of the POPrs Give It Away Now Giveaway:

The Winner Is...Stacy's Random Thoughts!

Stacy wins a box of POPrs ~ all eight flavors ~ that fun and nutritious seasoning, which encourages you to Eat Your Veggies! Please e-mail me, Stacy, at veggiemom@poprs.com, with your contact info, and Uncle Lynn will get your prize right out to ya!

And now, to the matter at hand, and the title of this post.

No, he didn't. But if Brett Favre had teamed up with my BIL, that would have been a million times better than the rash decision he was considering. I couldn't imagine Football Season starting so early this year, but here is my Second Series of Six Words, brought to you by Cate at Show My Face:

What were you thinking, Brett Favre?

You heard from me when Brett became a Jet. And again, when the Packers lost. And lost again. And then lost several more times. We even brought you the Cheesehead Pope, for cryin' out loud!

But rumor had it the other day that Brett was thinking about talking to the dreaded Minnesota Vikings.

*sigh*
The rumors turned out to be untrue. Unless everything changes again tomorrow, as it often does with Mr. Favre. It's getting increasingly difficult to like the guy. And I used to be such a fan!

Moker said he wouldn't watch Brett if he became a Viking. No offense to my Minnesota Bloggy Brethren, but that's how intense the Packer-Viking rivalry is.

The Wild One, meanwhile, tried to angle the other day for a Number 4 Vikings Jersey with Brett's name on the back, although she says she remains a loyal Packers Fan.

With no Vikings in his future, I hope Brett retires ~ for good ~ to his farm down in Mississippi this year. That way I won't have to choose. Or loose any more money to the NFL Pro Shop ~ that kid of mine has expensive taste!

Six-Word Saturday: Martha Stewart, I Ain't!

Launching into my second Six-Word Saturday, sponsored by Cate's Show My Face. Here goes:

Why I really love Tuesday Morning!

There, I've said it! Meet Floyd. He might be a flamingo, might not. But I picked him up for a steal at Tuesday Morning, right after my mulching hissy fit. He pretty much complements the rock garden, which is suffering from a serious lack of something colorful.

Don't worry ~ when the weather warms up (although yesterday it was freakin' 80 degrees in Wisconsin, of all places!) consistently, I'll plant some purty flowers to keep Floyd company.

Any suggestions?

6-Word Saturday: Spring's Promise

My first time out with Six-Word Saturday, which seems to be a nifty way to let everyone know what's on my mind, with the added challenge of curtailing my verbosity. The question remains: Is brevity my strong suit? Let me give it a go:

Hyacinths show promise of impending Spring.

How's that for a first-timer? My Six Words, BTW, are brought to you by Cate. She presides over at Show My Face. You've probably seen her around. You should stop by and share.
