Share the Comment Love-We'll Share the Pop'rs!

Lots of folks are staying close to home this summer, because of the price of gas and all. I know my family's taking shorter trips to save on gas and money! The photo above--which looks like a Florida Vacation Postcard to me--was snapped the other day by Aunt Julie, practically in her backyard. Who knew that pelicans flew anywhere near Northeastern Wisconsin, even in the summertime?

To lighten your mood a little,
Uncle Lynn, the Pop'r King, thinks we need Another Giveaway. Here's the deal.

Let me know, in a comment on this post, where you like to vacation with your family. Whether it's the back porch at home or the back lot at Universal Studios, location doesn't matter. We'll collect all the comments and pick two Grand Prize Winners by random drawing.

What will you win? Why, a complete box of Pop'rs, of course! That's eight flavors--Cinnamon, Color Burst, Chocolate, Strawberry, Raspberry, Butter, Taco and Buffalo--that you can sprinkle on everything from applesauce to broccoli to green beans to yogurt. And remember--not only are Pop'rs fun to eat, but they enhance your taste sensation and are infused with healthy vitamins--a great way to get you and your family to Eat Your Veggies!

We're picking Two Grand Prize Winners, folks, so please share that Good Ol' Comment Love--and perhaps a link back to our blog from your blog--and You. Could. Be. A. Winner! The Giveaway starts today and runs until 6 p.m. EST, next Monday, July 14. What a great way to spend a summer afternoon!

I like hanging out at my brother-in-law's cabin on a lake in northern Wisconsin, and I also like hanging out on Kiawah Island. The drive to Kiawah is shorter, though, so perhaps with gas prices such as they are, that might be my favorite of all right now.

I don't really have a lot of vacation time, so what I do get is normally taken around the holidays to spend time with my family in Indiana. On long weekends, I like to get away to one of the close beaches like Daytona, Clearwater, or Cocoa.

Wow. The world is so huge and amazing! How can I choose just one spot? A perfect family vacation would be spent continent hopping! We ALL have a STRONG to go to Africa. And China. And Singapore. The list goes on!
However, if I have to choose a spot we've been, I'd have to chose that Magical Fantasyland...DISNEY WORLD!!

don't forget to promote the contest through An Island Life and Laura Williams' Musings!

My family would love to go on vacation back to the Azores Islands where some of us lived as kids. We became really close, as a family when we lived there, and we'd all love to feel that again!

The Outer Banks of North Carolina! We've stayed everywhere on the Banx, from Nags Head to Corolla, but our favorite is the village of Duck. Lots of pelicans down there, too!

We would love to go to New Zealand. I have always wanted to go camping and hiking there.

Pretty much every year since I was a kid I have gone to the Emerald Beach Coast in FL. Mostly to Panama City Beach but also Destin. We love the sand and surf on the Gulf and if you pick the right time of year it is warm without a crowd. We recently started staying at LongBeach Resorts which we LOVE! It is equipped with a Lagoon Pool, two smaller heated pools and THREE hot tubs. Be-autiful! The more I go, the more I contimplate moving there. (Those darn hurricans are the only thing holding me back!)

Lovely photo!! How amazing to see that in one's backyard. Our vacations are typically close to home, except for a big one a few years back to Victoria, B.C.

We live in Oregon, and love the Oregon coast. We have a few spots we always go to play on the beach, splash in the Pacific, and ride the sand dunes.

We currently live in central Arkansas. There are wonderful lakes near by if you only have a boat to enjoy them. We decided to get a small above ground pool and save on gas too. If I could go anywhere I'd love to take a trip to Europe and take our kids to all the countries of our heritage. I'm Scottish-Irish and my husband is mostly German. As long as were on the other side of the pond I'd like to check out the Mediterranean. Who know we might even stay, if we ever get to go. For now we'll settle on the backyard poll so we can watch the garden grow and the chickens scratch around as we back in the Arkansas sun!

What an amazing photograph, no matter where it was taken -- though I'm stunned it was in WI! My dream vacation? Italian house in Tuscany. My realistic daydream vacation? A week on the beach and sand dunes in west MI or Canada.

I know it is boring, but we love vacationing in Florida. We rent a condo on the beach and hang out between the beach, pool, and room for nap time. At dinnertime we go down to the deck where we grill and eat our dinner. We watch the sun set swim then all collapse in bed!

Last October we spent the most wonderful vacation at Rosemary Beach with friends. I would love to go back there to just relax, bike, and enjoy the beach life.

We do alot of daytrips since no one wants to babysit our iguana and two stupid dogs. Living near the ocean, we enjoy that but myself? I cannot ever in a zillion years get enough of Washington, D.C museums. Real close; real fun and OH! shopping nearby!
Pop'rs look quite interesting: my son is picky so I have to experiment alot and try every new food I can. These look great!

I'd just love a vacation, I don't care where... my husband and I could use it. We'd love to just enjoy time at home... or best yet, a trip to a secluded beach somewhere! We aren't picky!

We have done a few of the bigger vacations like Disneyworld!! Now, my husband, myself and our two sons love to go to the mountains and stay in a cabin. We spend our days fishing, hiking, playing board games, etc. Please enter me in your delightful Pop'rs drawing. I appreciate it!
Thanks, Cindi

I love to take my kids anywhere historical... that's how I learned my love for history and I think it's so important to remember where we come from.

BUT... then again I do love to take them fun places cause... it's just fun to be a kid!

BUT... then again I like to take them to beautiful places so they can see the hand of the Creator.

I'm so not good at making up my mind!!!

Not to sound like a downer but my wife and I have had only 1 real vacation while we have been married (over 22 years). I consider a real vacation to be one in which we get away together, by ourselves. No relatives. No friends. Just us. It happened to be a week-long trip to Savannah, Georgia while filming of the movie Forrest Gump was taking place.

However, an old tradition in my family was my grandparents, then my parents would rent a condo or house in Mexico Beach, Florida for the entire month of October when the rental prices were the lowest. My wife and I would drive over from Tallahassee and spend at least one weekend there. Even though we had to follow others' schedules, my wife and I have some of our fondest memories there. Unfortunately that tradition ended after my grandmother passed away. My brother does rent a place there each year with his co-workers and friends, but we've never been close and he's never invited us. My wife and I can't afford to rent a place and we're don't have enough income to go on a real vacation. However there is hope. I am being considered for a position within the agency where I work that would increase my income substantially and hopefully my wife will be able to be hired fulltime somewhere (currently she's an adjunct professor at a local community college which basically is a part time job which varies in income from semester to semester depending upon how many classes she's offered to teach -- plus after several years it's become very apparent that they have no intentions whatsoever to hire her fulltime therefore it's time for her to move on). If that happens, we could sock aside some money and fairly soon I can take her on the honeymoon we never had albeit over 22 years late.

Poprs sound really cool!
We've not got to go on a real vacation in years so....we drive to a lake nearby that has a beach area and playground. We take a picnic lunch and stay alllllllll day! (with sunscreen of course!) It's fun and its in the middle of nowhere!(and we usually have it all to ourselves) We love it! We pretend we're on an island!

Before everything went south, our family reserved two three bdroom condo's at Seaside Or. For most of us it is about a 4-5 hour drive. We have had it reserved for a year, so will go. Probably will carpool though. It will be our first family visit there condo wise. We have tented in the area before, but I am getting too old for sleeping on the ground.
I do take my grands to Disneyland for their 7th birthday. Have our condo reserved for July 09. Do not know how we will get there though. Will have to wait and see how things are in a year. May fly, may drive. I do not mind driving, but it may be more cost effective to fly.
Thank you for coming to see me on my anniversary. Please drop in anytime. Will love to get to know you better.

This year my dream vacation would have to be Hawaii because my son will be playing football over there and we could only afford to send him.

I was a single mom for years... and promised myself I would ALWAYS be at all of their sports and so far have NEVER missed one of his games.

This will be the first time and I am struggling with it. Especially because this is his last year of High School and first time starting on VARSITY!

SO HAWAII THIS YEAR WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE!

Ooops! I posted my favorite vacation stuff on the other post. But here goes again...We went to our favorite quiet beach spot in Florida again this year. It is only about 6 hours away, so the gas wasn't too terrible. It was WAY worth it. We are also doing Atlanta kinds of things. We have a lot of cool stuff in this city.

I haven't been on a real vacation for such a long time, but I have to say that my all time favorite has to be from when I was growing up in England and for a number of years we went to a small fishing town called Brixham in Devon. It is so beautiful there and we had so much fun, swimming in the sea and just hanging out. I loved it! Luckily now I live close to Lake Tahoe so I can do some pretty nice day trips with my boy.

I'd love to take a vacation anywhere :)

We've taken one major family vacation with all the kids (before the littlest was born).

We went to Tampa, FL then on to Disney the Christmas before last. I've always loved Florida and have been there dozens of times because of family living there.

I'd love to take my kids more but my grandparents sold their condo and moved back up here. Crazy old folks.

We don't go on vacation as much as we visit family regularly. This year, we're headed to the beach, though...Myrtle Beach, SC most likely. (We considered Outer Banks, NC but are more familiar with Myrtle Beach.) We were planning a longer drive but, like you, gas is too expensive to make it worth the trip!

Nice to meet ya, SITSta! :)

Mr. Big doesn't have any vacation this year since he just started a new job. I hope to take the kids to Universal Studios sometime around Thanksgiving. It isn't that far, the Florida heat will have subsided and Universal is WAY better than Disney!

Our favorite vacation spot is Monterey Bay. We walk along the ocean, check out the aquarium, get some salt water taffy. Oh, and clam chowder in a bread bowl is a must! Yummy! I wonder how clam chowder would taste with some Pop'rs sprinkled on it??? :)
